Ron Hardy Said

Dropping on Mouseville is the first release to feature an artist other than Eric Prydz. Seemingly his Pryda Friends label isn't being used at the moment as this is where he would release music in the past.

Trivial information aside, the Eric Prydz remix is an absolute MONSTER.

One of our favourite songs of the year here at the blog for sure. Pure class from Prydz.

"There will never be another place like that where Ron Hardy was doing what he
was doing. I mean this man... it was like voodoo with dance music. If I had to
think about it everyday, or I was thinking about it when I was playing records
every time, I wouldn't play. I would stop. Because I would look at these people.
I would look at these clubs. I would say this is bullshit."
- Derrick May

Original isn't too shabby if you like things a little more techier.

4/5 for the release.

Yeke!

Well it's been rather quiet down here in Australia with the exception of the Godskitchen trance tour. Reports from the Melbourne leg show John O'Callaghan being the fave.

On to somebody who hasn't been here in a while but is strongly rumoured to be heading down under again next year. Which will be great because people have been saying he is in better form than ever. Of course I am talking about Richie Hawtin!

Well, if he plays Yeke Yeke then all will be good in my books! Can't get this tune out of my head still and it's 20 years old! An EDM anthem without a doubt.

Pryda - Evouh, Wakanapi & Rakfunk Review

Hitting Beatport tomorrow (in theory at least) is Eric Prydz’ latest trio of Pryda tunes! Prydz is a huge favourite with all of this blog's writers so we're excited to say the least.

As Prydz stated on his website, this is the first time 3 tunes are getting released at once on the Pryda Recordings label. This AAA release is going to be doing some serious damage in the upcoming months.

1. Evouh
2. Wakanpi
3. Rakfunk

All of these tunes have been played on Pete Tong’ s Essential Selection in the last month. Sasha has been hammering 'Evouh' for quite some time now and ‘Wakanpi’ made it’s world debut in Eric Prydz’ Essential Mix live from Creamfields (an incredible mix for the record).

If you can get the myspace player working, there is a Pryda012 preview on
Eric's MySpace

Out of the three 'Wakanpi' is my favourite. It’s the track that shows off Pryda at his best with the track sitting along side 'Europa' & 'F12' in terms of style. A very melodic lead line with a groovey bassline, throw in some driving chords and it’s pure bliss. The lead line builds after those chants step in and at this point, it’s all over for me. Goosebumps set in and it reminds me why this sort of music can be so damn good.

I won’t understate the other two songs in this release though. Eric is known as a perfectionist so you get nothing but quality music from him.

'Rakfunk' is a verrry groovey number. Being honest I didn’t like this song to begin with but after a few listens.... very classy. That walking bassline alternating with some nice chords seems to almost divide the song at the start but further on in the track, it starts to make sense. When the string joins in with the bassline it really gets rocking! A great tune that will sure to get people moving but not Eric’s best.

Finally I’ll get to the feature track of this release, 'Evouh'. Like I mentioned Sasha has been hammering it which will give you an indication of it’s style. Melodic, yet dark & driving. It builds up and up before dropping way back to nearly where it started. Teasing you with the possibility of a huge drop but never delivering, this tune will work wonders as a tune to build up energy.

Overall I’m giving this EP 4/5 stars. I can’t quite call it perfection but it comes close. All 3 tunes are very good but the best is ‘Wakanpi’ in my opinion!

So go buy your copy at
Beatport or if you go old skool route - wherever you get your vinyls. Next week we will have a review of the next Mouseville release - 'Ron Hardy Said'. The original by Paolo Mojo & Jim Rivers and the remix by Eric Prydz will be hitting Beatport on the 13th!
